I created a menu background (720 x 540) for my DVD menu using Photoshop CS3. The quality is great, yet when I load it into DVD Author 3 it looks highly compressed, especially around the text. I tried saving the image in .JPEG keeping the compression low and imported it once again but it showed no difference whatsoever.
I was wondering if DVD Author does this with all backgrounds (if so how can the pre-made backgrounds turn out so clear and crisp?) or if there's a setting that can be checked off some where?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Tested this out myself and found that when I output the DVD, the background quality looks like the original.
I'm guessing the program downgrades the image quality of imported backgrounds so the previews in the Menu Stage render faster.
Don't worry about; output the DVD and it should look good!
