    Hello,

I am a rookie here but have done a lot of reading and the wealth of knowledge on this site is amazing. I hope someone has an idea on what might be going on with the hard drive on my DVR-640. Tonight I erased several of the titles I had recorded on the HDD but I did not recover the space for the erased recordings. Eventually I erased over 30 hours of recordings from the hard drive but when I try to record I get a message that the "hard drive is full".
The disk navigator shows 0h00min remaining. I tried to optimize the HDD but it starts the procedure and then stops after about 2 minutes. Does anyone have an idea on what is going on and how to repair it? Am I in danger of losing my remaining recordings on the hard drive? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Brian

Delete or offload the LAST title on the HDD, the one with the latest date. Keep doing that till it shows you have some space left. The last titles are the ones most likely to have been stored in lots of fragments that aren't being "cleared" so far.

Wabjxo- I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I took your advice and started deleting the latest posts one at a time until all of a sudden 16 hours and 49 minutes of remaining space on the HDD appeared. All is well now. I wouldn't want to see this unit die as retailers here stopped stocking the Pioneer DVD/HDD units.
You really made my day- I hope I am able to repay the favor sometime.
    Take care.
