Vista Media Player 11 doesn't play MP3 Codec Missing

Hi All,

I finally got Windows Vista Home Premium stable. The only issue I have is that for some reason windows media player 11 will not play certain mp3 files. When I open the .mp3 in Gspot the codec is "MPEG-2 Layer 3"

Where can I download MPEG-2 Layer 3 codec for Vista Windows Media Player 11?

not quite sure as mp3 audio is mpeg-1 layer 3. mpeg-2 layer 3 may be a type of dvd mpg audio?

It plays fine on windows media for XP Pro. Not sure what the deal is with vista.

try using mediainfo or gspot and find out if they are "real" mp3's - mpeg-1 layer 3, or some other form of audio.

Media player classic plays all mp3s,i never use windows media player 11.

will it play some mp3's and not others?
this is a feature not a bug...WIMP dropped support for certain odd bit rate mp3's
Windows Media Player is a bad choice anyway for media playback
superior programs exist
