    Hello I picked up the Philips DVP5992/37 from Costco for $40 and noticedthat the 5990 model has a firmware upgrade for improved USB connection. Can this firmware be used on the 5992?

    The 5992 support page does not list any firmware for it.

    I tried it and it worked. Now my 5992 is running 5990 firmware 37.08.51.27! Looks and feels the same to me!

    other than "paint trim" on the case, they're both the same player 'under the hood'.
