I am looking for an open-source conversion program that can convert from both .avi and mpeg-2 video files to .f4v format. I have already tried Super C but they use a modified H.263 codec, and we are considering Sorensen Squeeze 5 but it is $300/license.

  2. F4V it's little modified MP4 (with AVC/AAC).

However, Adobe Flash Player can play not only FLV and F4V - MP4, MOV, M4V too (of course if contain AVC/AAC).

However, latest FFmpeg can mux AVC/AAC to FLV.

I'm not see (yet) open source tools with support save to F4V.
But now Flash Video specification is available for everyone, well...

We are only going to use .flv or .f4v videos for our service. So the next question would be what commercially available programs do you know of that would be able to convert .avi to .flv or .f4v using the H.264 codec? As mentioned above we are considering using Sorensen Squeeze 5 but I wouldn't mind if we could find something a little cheaper lol
