    I'm trying to convert a MOV file to a FLV file and am having difficulty with the encoding. I have searched the boards for relevant information and have found a lot of it. I started with a WMV file, converted it to a MOV file with audio tracks re-ordered. I thought I'd be good to go then:
    FFmpeg version CVS, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
    Mac OSX universal build for ffmpegX
    libavutil version: 49.0.0
    libavcodec version: 51.9.0
    libavformat version: 50.4.0
    Tue Jun 3 10:24:57 PDT 2008
    Seems that stream 0 comes from film source: 2997.00 (2997/1) -> 29.97 (30000/1001)
    Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from '/Users/matthewmcgraw/Documents/MattsWIP/C&M/NewSite/Assets/Broadcast/MasterCraftRevised.mov':
    Duration: 00:00:36.5, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1988 kb/s
    Stream #0.0(eng), 29.97 fps(r): Video: WMV3 / 0x33564D57, 640x480
    Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: WMA2 / 0x32414D57, 48000 Hz, stereo
    Output #0, flv, to '/Users/matthewmcgraw/Documents/MattsWIP/C&M/NewSite/Assets/Broadcast/MasterCraftRevised.flv':
    Stream #0.0, 25.00 fps(c): Video: flv, yuv420p, 320x240, q=2-15, 200 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 22050 Hz, stereo, 56 kb/s
    Stream mapping:
    Stream #0.0 -> #0.0
    Stream #0.1 -> #0.1
    Unsupported codec (id=74) for input stream #0.0
    Does anyone have an idea what this codec is and what I can do to fix this?

    Conversion of WMV3 video is not supported by ffmpegX (yet).

    As AIC is only available to users of iMovie HD or FCP, I can not try anything with that codec. You may try activating the Decode with QuickTime checkbox in the Options tab, to see if that makes a difference.
    If that doesn't work, you should do an extra step and export with a different video codec, to make a source file decodable to ffmpegX. To save some time and disk space, you may want to size down to the size you want for the FLV (320x240) while exporting.

    Someone needs to write a sticky: How To Ask For Help.

    If you only say "X doesn't work. Do you know why?" you're not likely to get many helpful responses. Tell us WHAT YOU DID. What tool/version? Characteristics of source file? Characteristics of target file? Maybe post a logfile (the blue 'i' on the Progress pane in ffmpegx).

    Folks here want to help, but we're not mindreaders, y'know! (Although Case comes pretty damn close...)
