    hiya,

I have read heaps on this now but still am slightly unsure and dont wanna just start installing stuff...

i have a .mp4 file and in MPC it only plays the sound but with no picture... i tried installing Haali but then it came back with something about pins not aligned or something missing? so i uninstalled Haali.

i have divx, xvid, and aac installed...

what do i need to do? i have read about ffdshow but will this cause conflicts? or is there an easier way?

    cheers!

  3. If the mp4 has AVC video then you don't have the proper video codec installed. DivX/XviD won't play it back.

ffdshow would be my choice to play it back and it won't interfere with other codecs if configured correctly. You can simply check the video portion to enable h.264/AVC playback and disable everything else - same for audio.

Using gspot will tell us exactly what is inside that mp4 container, but my guess is AVC-based video.
