    Hello!

i bought this motherboard and this fan for it, but it happens to be that the heatsink/fan would not fit in the slot over the CPU.

my question is can anyone link me to a cheap heatsink/fan that would fit?

    thanks

Just check the site you linked to for a socket 754 fan/heatsink.

The specs for the motheboard (again from that link) tell you that info.

thanks a lot, i was having trouble because, the socket on the mobo was just 754 while as the categories under newegg had 754+ some others.

Also be sure the cooler will fit in your case.

The one you originally linked to appears to be for a Socket A (Socket 462) CPU. You can tell by the 'ledge' on one side of the cooler base. The 462 doesn't have the large heat spreader covering the CPU module like the newer CPUs use.
