Hi Guys.. bought this machine today, the Philips DVDR3480 DVD Recorder for 79.99 in Argos, very pleased with it so far. Theres something important that I want to record onto it in the next few weeks and I really do not want to be given a "Disk Error" message when im about too or half way through recording.

I was very familiar with the type of disks that my old dvd recorder liked so I was pretty certain on which ones would work and which ones wouldnt. But as this machine is new and I dont think I'll have the time to go out and experiment with disks, I need the help of you guys, which disks does this machine tend to like and which ones would you recommend?

    Thanks

Based on U.S. experience, the best blanks are Taiyo Yuden Premium which we buy online from supermediastore.com (who says they only sell the "Premium") or rima.com. Second best is Verbatim. These should work well in virtually all DVDRs.

Kargo - Here are some, I hope, helpful hints for future posts.

Your post title said "disks". Disks with a "k" refers to hard disk drives. Discs with a "c" refers to media - CD and DVD discs. I thought you were asking about replacing a hard drive in your recorder, so I didn't originally look at it.

Second, weekends aren't the best times to post. You get more response on a week day. Many forum members don't bother to read the forums on weekends.

wabjxo's advice is good. There are TY mail order sources in the UK, but I don't remember the names of them.

I wasn't aware that the K or C in disks or discs meant anything. I kinda thought it was like Grey or Gray. Good to know. Anyway I don't think you could go wrong with Ty or Verbs and IMO Philips seem to be more partial to + discs rather than - ones. After all Philips invented the + media, although either should work fine.
