Burning DVD's with Roxio Creator Basic 9 or Windows DVD maker

I have a sony mini disc DVD camera and downloaded the movies to my hard drive. I want to make a DVD to send to family but am having issues.

With Roxio when I try to add the movies which are in MPEG-2 format I am getting a error saying movie cannot be edited, movie not added. Also on the movie icon it says no attributes available.

With Windows DVD maker it starts encoding the files but gets to 2.1% and says "An error occured while creating the DVD" but doesn't tell me what to do to fix the problem.

Any suggestions or simple solutions. I don't anything about making these DVD's and have spent the last 3 nights working on it.

I would instead try Tmpgenc dvd author and use it's import dvd function, you can do basic editing and make menus and burn without any reconversion.

Or if you want to use roxio you could try vob2mpg on the dvd and then import in roxio.
