For the first time since discovering the current REAL PLAYER can download and then burn to DVD/VCD .flv (Flash Video) files, I've hit a roadblock.

I've now got a .flv file that just will not allow burning. The Player keeps claiming there's no video content. (This just moments after I've watched the thing. Sure there's no video content!)

Can some .flv files have coding that prevents burning and creates an artificial "no video" reading on the attempt to burn?

The crazy thing is I tried a free download of a converter (AVS Video Converter), and it even burned the converted file to disc....perfectly.

Why isn't REAL PLAYER doing it if some other software can?

If there's a way to do this without actually buying more software, I'd prefer that.

    Any suggestions?

Real Player probably doesn't support all flv formats, it could be a different a video codec like h264 or on2 video that it doesn't support.

You can try other free converters like winff, super and convert to avi, mpg,etc and then convert it to dvd.

In one of the the stickies for this forum, I've read the list of free converters. I've also read that at least one of the converters leaves all sorts of junk in your computer, possibly even spyware. Could I ask which of the ones listed is "safe"? (Also which one you might recommend over others?)
