I have some AVI files that I want to separate the video and audio streams, so I can combine it again into a MKV with MKVmerge. Is there any method or application for the mac that can do this?

    Thanks for your time.

MKVmerge works well with AVIs (video + audio) as input; no need to separate them first.

Ah I see. Thats right, mkvmerge would recognize the different streams for media containers. AVI shouldn't be an exception to the rule. Man, I must of fried my brain encoding today. I been dissecting mkv/ogms to salvage parts that I want to remake a new mkv with mkvmerge for too long that I forgot you can input whole media containers in, not just components. I should have tested avi with mkvmerge first. Thanks for the help case.
