  1. HI I am trying to turn an avi file to mpeg2 using winavi and then turning the said mpeg file itno a dvd file using tmpgenc. When i play the original file on windows media player and select full screen it fills the screen up. When convert it via win avi i select PAL 16:9 as I Have a wide screen TV. However when i change the converted file via tmpgenc the size of the video no longer fill the screen or remains int he 16:9 format instead all i get is a square video size. ANy ideas how to maintian the 16:9 screen.
    Many thanks

WinAVI is perhaps the single worst video converter in a market crowded with piss-poor video converters. I don't know what you are doing with tmpgenc as there should be no need to change the file if WinAVI has produced a DVD compliant mpeg. Of course, that is a very big if.

Can I suggest you try one of the higher quality free alternatives, such as FAVC. The encoder is much better than WinAVI, and it will produce a DVD ready for burning. Yes, it takes longer, and the program doesn't have big, brightly coloured buttons to click on. But is does have something WinAVI can only dream of - it works.

If only WinAVI wasn't so easily pirated. Then there wouldn't be so many people using it.
