I am converting an old VHS tape for a friend into a file type they can play around with in iMovie on their Mac. I will be initially uploading the VHS tape into Sony Vegas on my PC. What file type should I render the video as so that he can best edit it in iMovie?
I assume it will be a large file (since the .AVI files most Windows programs capture in are very large - initially).
Thanks in advance.

DV format. They will need Quicktime Pro ($29) to import DV-AVI.
Or copy to DV tape and import tape to Mac
Or use high bit rate MPeg2.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
