some people can't view the video. Is there a paticular codec or browser option they need to configure?

They would need a added MPEG-2 codec for .m2v. (MPEG-2 video, no audio) .m1v (MPEG-1 video, no audio) playback is included on Windows machines and most other platforms. WMV is also commonly used for streaming.

That's what I figured. Does anyone have a link to that codec?

If you wanted just a MPEG-2 codec, you could use Stinkys MPEG2 Codec. Or use ffdshow which is a DirectShow filter and can decode MPEG-2 and other common formats. Both are freeware.

Many Windows users have a MPEG-2 codec already if they installed a software MPEG-2 DVD player like PowerDVD. MPEG-2 doesn't come with Windows because of copyright restrictions, except with some Vista versions, so you have to add it.
