    Hi,

    Here's what I'm looking for

    Recorders to -R/RW, +R/RW, and +DL
Upscaling to 1080i via Component (most do it HDMI, but I need Component)

    Optionals
    Hard drive
    ATSC/QAM tuner

    Anyone have suggestions?

Not really sure about your list, but pickings are slim these days -- for this whole product category. But check out wabjxo's threads on the Phillips 3575, in terms of what may still be on the market.

Honestly I don't believe any do upconversion over Component. As far as the 3575 it does not do DL.
To tell the truth I've compared PQ using HDMI upconvert vs. Component 480p and did not notice any difference in my testing. It's just nice having one cable does it all with HDMI, vs. 5 cables with component/audio.
    Good luck on your quest!

Ah, according to the Philiips website the 3575 DOES do DL (if you mean, as I think you mean, recording on Double Layer discs?) --- just plus ones though...

I just looked at my 3575 and no DL. On the website there's the symbol relating to its ability to record on both - and + R/RWs which is called dual format but unfortunatily no Dual Layer recording on the 3575, just playback. I've also noticed that on Philips' Canada page there's a 3576 that is available, same built, HDD size and specs other than it's all black.

    I believe you're both right........
The European 3575 does Double Layer, the US 3575 does not. I believe the European 3575 also does many cool things that the US version does not, including being able to play movies via the USB port, which is lacking in the US version.
Trollheart, Since they are slightly different, I hope your European version is as reliable as our US one. I would think so but it's a possibility.
CC-Word is the only difference between the US 3575 and the soon to be released 3576 is the black paint job, nothing else.

Hmmm, so you or someone else has seen the inside or tested the tuner and know this for a fact?

The only thing the 3576 really needs is a digital tuner that's stable in ALL systems with an analog cable feed (38-40% of those are unstable with the 3575)... all other feeds have virtually no problem with the tuner.

No, I was only referring to new features. I would hope that any instabilities with the tuner would also be corrected, but I guess none of us will know that until they come out. And with SDV and QAM instabilities in general we'll have to wait for a general consensus before determining if anything has been corrected. It will be interesting to see if more stores will carry the 3576 than the 3575.
A kid I talked to at BB said he would love to sell a DVDR w/hdd. He said he gets more than a few requests from customers wanting them and he has to turn them away. Funny thing is that BB does sell Philips DVDR's, only the cheaper NON hdd ones
