embedding subtitles in avi

What are the correct settings for embedding (greek) subtitles (.srt) in an AVI file?

I use without success:
Target: AVI DivX
Filter: checked subtitles, chose .srt, load the subtitles file, Textcoding = ISO-8859-7, Font = STHeiti.

When previewing it is ok
but after pressing encoding the resulting avi file has no subtitles but only straight lines...!
Getting desperate!

Please help!

Try a different font like Times or Arial.

i tried that at the beginning but even the preview did not function right with Arial or Times!
