I am looking for a good priced upscaling hdmi dvd player mulitregion+dvix.
not really looked into HDMI before but i have a tv on the way,
i cannot afford a blue ray player at the moment so the next best thing is a upscalling dvd player.
i am based on the UK so i will be looking to buy one here.

Do note that while your post did not specifically mention playing Divx in HD, you should be aware that upscaling DVD players will NOT be able to play HD Divx files. Many people here just assume that because they bought an upscaling DVD player that they can then play their 720 or 1080 Divx files and that doesn't happen. The number of true DVD players that can play HD Divx files can be counted on one hand and they are all expensive.

Philips doesn't necessarily make the best players, but their DVD players can typically be put into multi-region mode without too much hassle.

You don't really have to have an upscaling DVD player. If you have a good HDTV it may actually upscale better than a cheapish DVD player. You'll have to test to see, but it certainly is possible. If you are buying a Samsung HDTV then almost certainly the TV will upscale better than a cheap Philips DVD player.
