How to connect my cable box to my computer~~? THX~~

This may be a rookie question but I really need an answer here~~

I have HD cablebox~~recently I've tried to connect cable box to my computer~~but I couldn't find a connector that fits both equipment~~my cable box has component video out(RGB)~~DVI-D~~RF coaxial~~and analog tv out~~and my TV Card has analog cable tv in~~s-video~~ATSC/QAM digital tv in~~and stereo audio in~~~i could connect both with analog cable~~but it will sacrifice picture quelity~~I'm wondering is there anyway that I can connect my cable box to the ATSC TV port on my TV card~~? Do I need a converter to do that~~?

Also~~can I connect my monitor to the cable box through DVI-D cable~~?

Your monitor should be fine.

Your probably not going to be able to connect a cable box to a pc....I believe the boxes are encrypted so that data cannot easily be taken from them...Someone else may have more knowledge, but as far as I know there is no work around.

No. But you can connect the video capture card directly to the cable coax feed (split the feed before it goes to the cable box). You will be able to tune the analog channels and any unencrypted QAM channels (mostly limited to your local OTA broadcast stations). You will not get any encrypted content.

To capture encrypted high def channels you will need something like a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card. Then you can capture via the cable box's component output.
