    Hi
First of all, I’m German. Means, my English is not very good. Apologies for that.

Here is what I (very stupid!) did:

I bought a Samsung DVD-R 155 (U.S. Version). No way to get that thing region free. Ha, not for me!!!
So, I tried to update the firmware. I renamed a update file from R155P.RUF to R155.RUF and flashed the player to get a Region 4 player. Worked like a champ, the player is now on a Australian standard.
Unfortunately, the remote control and the buttons on the player do not work anymore. All I can do now, is to switch that damned thing on and off. No play, setup or any other function.

Does somebody have an idea what to do? Will a universal remote control work? Or is there a chance to reset the whole thing?

I managed to get a CD into the player (Do not ask me how, for sure I don’t have a warranty anymore) with the old firmware. So far so good, a screen pops up asking me to install the “new” software but I don’t have a functional ENTER button to press YES!

After you stopped laughing, please write a answer.

    Thank you

Surely there's a physical button on the unit that corresponds to an "enter/accept/Yes/execute" key? Perhaps PLAY might do it? Failing that, have you tried another remote from a similar machine, or thought about buying a remote for an Australian player?

    Thanks for the response.
No, all keys on the machine are dead, except the on / off button and the input button. I tried a universal remote today, did not work.
To get a Australian remote seems to be the only option or at least the code from the Australian remote (does somebody know it?) to program the universal remote.
Otherwise I make the recorder a present to someone I dislike.
