    Dear friends.

I need to encode my WMV files to the DVD-video format (for playback on my Sony DVD player).

Or advise me to convert them to the Mpeg format. I can then encode them to DVD-video using my Nero 7 software.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Amer

TMPGEncXpress is capable of opening such files for further encoding.

FAVC or DVD Flick should also be able to do it, and they are free.

I'm trying to convert wmv using TMPGenc express 4.0... for most part, mpeg's are really nice. But if I trim the clip using the editing cutter, the playback of the finished mpeg will always stutter slightly, about 1 second in, in every clip I've done.

It'll run something like "_ ________" (where the break represents the 1/4 second pause/stutter). The rest of the clip is fine, including the audio. I've even tried loading the wmv in an avisynth script, with the cuts trimmed right in the script... still outputting a screwed mpeg.

I shouldn't have to trim and output as avi in virtualdub first, should I?

    Any ideas appreciated... thanks

    think I found the issue...

Looking at the clip in tmpgenc's editing timeline, looks like 10th frame in is a 1/2 frame... tiny clip added to beginning of main clip (advertisment). It's the beginning clip I'm trimming, and I guess tmpgenc has issues with the added clip at the beginning.

But... converted to avi, then spliced... video's ok.

So, guess I have to output as avi first... unless it's a setting in tmpgenc that I need to change(?).
