HDMI Workaround or hack

All I wanna do is watch my DVD's upconverted on my FP that only has component in. It's a Sony 400Q and to this day, works like a champ! It REALLY irks my liver that I can only view backed up discs via component upconverted and not the discs I bought without backing up.

I have HD-DVD and BluRay players and would be happy to use either one.

Perhaps a "dummy load" HDMI connector or anything that would work.

You have two choices:
1.Let the Sony upscale your DVD's.
2.Buy a new PJ with HDMI.

Sony doesn't care about you. They give you no other option except to buy everything again. Will they take your "HD-Ready" equipment in trade? Unlikely.
