The clip may be protected by copyright.

Until the fact about that is established, the forum rules do not permit such help.

you don't know that... none of us will until we get a link and see the video,

then comments about copyright become valid, you are jumping to conclusions

how to grab video is discussed all the time

I fail to see how 'may be' is jumping to conclusions.

I was aware of the 'sticky' posted by the mod and that should have deemed the original post un-neccessary.

Would still like to see the link tho as it's not so simple in many cases to grab streaming video.

First of all, the clip is Windows Media Video not Real Video (well it is for me)

I see a 14 minute 'news' report from the BBC. They will own the copyright to this and, technically, you should ask their permission if you can use the clip or part of it.

Maybe the forum's mod will have a different opinion about this.

so there no way at all i would be able to download that news clip to my computer? No software or anything. Because my cousin needs it by tomorrow latest for his uni work which is very important.

    ....

    Thanks For All Info.

  13. Not to be a dick, but did you read the sticky?

You cannot download that clip directly but you can capture the stream.

The tool that you want is WM Recorder. So once you've got permission from the BBC and your university, the end result is a tiny WMV clip <4MB. Unfortunately the trial version limits you to 5 min recordings. Normally I would offer to upload the clip but as DB83 pointed out, it is copyrighted.

    Good luck

Actually, you can download it < 23 meg

Unfortunatley, our friend wanted everything 'Yesterday'. Even Rome was not built in a day.

This is to answer the PM I just received.

I said that I can download it. I did not say that I would download it.

The programs exist for you to experiment with (and they do have help screens). If then you do suceed in getting it then the copyright problem is yours NOT mine.

yep, AFAIK, BBC is very keen on copyright issues, for a school editorial, they might allow use of it, once you provide the proof.

it doesn't look like something ,somebody would use just for fun to watch
