I've read that these are pretty effective combination when it comes to removing noise. The only thing is there was no documentation with the filters. Do I just leave them at the default settings? Does anyone have any tips when using these filters?

Use higher settings for more noise reduction, lower settings for less noise reduction. Use the amount that's appropriate for your material.
Be sure to judge the result at normal playback speed. You will often see artifacts at normal playback speed that weren't noticeable looking at single frames. In my opinion, most people use too much noise reduction.
