    Hi,

can anybody tell me if the Panasonic DMR-EH57 has a time-shift functionality? It has something called "timeslip", but it means that you can skip specified portion of the video being played. As the name is very similar to timeshift, it obviously causes some confusion. But does this model have time-shift or not?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Timeshift isn't a machine feature, it just means recording something for watching later... shifting the time for watching.

Time Slip is a machine feature that allows you to play a previously recorded TV program while simultaneously recording another program.

Chase play is another machine feature that allows you to play a program from the beginning while it's still recording... chasing the recording until you catch up by skipping commercials, etc.

Thank you for the reply. You mean it isn't a feature of this machine or a feature of any dvd recorder at all? Basically what I am looking for is a possibility to "pause" a live tv sending.

Timeshift is a term not related to a specific machine, it's just a "thing we can do" with any DVDR or VCR.

Pause Live TV is a machine feature, like the Philips 3575 has. It's a remote button that activates the "pause" which just means it keep recording and remembers where you started the pause. You come back, press the button and it plays from where you left off. You can do the same by pressing the REC button, then Chase Playing from where you left off. You could do the same with any machine that has the "Chase Play" feature.

I think the new and old Polaroids have a feature you can turn on and off to continuously record so it "buffers" the last six hours or so. This requires the HDD to be constantly recording, which I wouldn't want since the HDD does have a limited operating lifespan.
