Greetings. I need help on some things that I'm trying to get off of. I am looking for a DVD recorder/VCR combo that's Region Free that will allow me to copy or record VHS tapes onto DVD R&W's, as well as to watch movies from anything that's region 1 & above. For instance, I recently ordered some Japanese Anime, & that may come across as region 2. If I try to put it inside a Region 1 DVD player, then it won't be able to play. So I need some sites to find them (Region Free players may not be in stores) & which companies make the best or really good DVD Recorder/VCR combos out there.

I would really appreciate your assistance. Thanks!

For players, just about any of the Chinese made players will do that. I'd suggest getting a separate player for playing multi-region DVDs anyway as they are so cheap these days. For low cost units check out the Philips line. For higher end units ($150+), try Oppo. Oppo is mail order only though. Philips are in just about any big box store (Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.). Combos can be problematic. Are you sure you want to go down that route? If either the vcr or dvd recorder breaks then they are effectively BOTH broken.
