    Hello

I am looking for (hopefully freeware) a programme that i can very easily convert my DVD camcorder footage to a PC format like AVI or Mpeg2 etc so i can edit it on my PC (probably with windows movie maker)

The format the dvd disc is when i download it to my PC are VOB, VTS, IFO, BUP etc etc plus when i use the programme do i highlight all these to be converted?

    Many thanks

VOB2MPG doesn't change the video quality, it just extracts the MPGs from the VOBs. If the quality is less, then something else is doing it. You could use VideoReDo or MPEG-VCR, or MPEG StreamClip for freeware MPEG editing.

Or you could convert the DVD directly to Xvid or Divx with AutoGK. But if you want to edit, I would recommend doing that in the native format, MPEG-2 in this case.
