Hi Everyone,
Hope someone can help... when burning dvds (authored from pinnacle or womble) the burnt DVDs usually won't play properly on a regular DVD player. They usually start OK but start glitching and jumping towards the end, sometimes completely freezing up. Would this be a problem of using the wrong bitrates or something or is it more likely to be low quality blanks discs?
Thanks!

Yep, probably a media problem. See www.nomorecoasters.com and www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia

Check those disc dont have more than 4.3 gig burnt onto them .
Some players have issues -
Likely to be low quality media or media which is not supported by the firmware in your drive (written using default strategy), or media which your drive doesn't like. That assumes your drive is properly installed and functioning.
Could also be due to running other programs while burning on a relatively slow system. The outer tracks of the DVD are typically burned last and they have the highest data transfer rate and cause the greatest load on your system.
Also more likely to occur with older DVD players, -
Bad media.

control the size of your file, and watch your burn speeds,
I have found I make problem discs if I let the total size exceed 4.0gig ( in other words, don't try to use every byte that is supposed to be on the media ) and OR if i brun at max speed
I burn at 1/2 of the rated speed of the media or even less if it meets or exceeds the top speed of my burner
burning to fast and burning to the edge, create these problems
