I need a telecine machine like nobody's business. I can't stand to use the "Projector dv capture" method anymore. If anybody knows who sells any, please advise.

    Thank you

  2. A google search of Telecine Machines produced a large bounty of suppliers and info.

On the info front this is my favorite:

I went here, and this looks like what I want, but I can't find anything similar. I need this within the next week. It takes them 2 months or more to order. http://www.moviestuff.tv/

  4. Actually, I liked the project aspect of it. Wish I had the time.

These guys have been around a long time and may be helpful: http://www.moviestuff.tv/equipment.html

This could be difficult in your time frame, I suppose a large budget could help.

Goko and Elmo both made decent units 'for their day.' Their day is long gone though (think early to mid 90s at the latest), and I think both companies are probably gone. These systems were direct to video tape so given todays technology the quality is not as good.

    Good luck!

What exactly is the "Projector dv capture" method? Google doesn't know.

8mm film has sloppy frame rate (not crystal controlled in camera) hence can vary around 18 fps. Most would get a varable speed projector with a 2x gate and adjust projector speed down from 36 to 29.97 fps (run 17% slow). Usually this is adjusted for minimum flicker. A 3x gate (54 fps) would be sped 10% to 59.94 fps for more natural speed.

You can always frame interpolate in software to reach 1x speed without flicker.
