Unless your demuxed .mkv stream has and xvid encoded video stream (i.e not AVC/h.264), it is impossible to keep 100% quality when re-encoding using a lossy codec.

You can convert it to a format that your standalone player supports, but be aware you will lose some quality. There are many, many posts on how to do this, just use the search function. If you have any more questions after that, there are many people here that could help you

    Good luck!

    Hi.

This will do the job. Takes MKV as input. May want to try a few different recodes. I tried with HCEnc 0.22 and it looked pretty good.

Find out first what format the video is in. It may already be Xvid or DivX and need no converting.
Try GSpot or AVIcodec or mediainfo to find out

I have very successfuly converted mkv to avi/xvid with Winavi. It looked as good as the original & played without a problem in my standalone. An hour & a half film took about 30 minutes to convert with my system & I didn't have to diddle around demuxing and all that other crap. Sometimes the easy way just works. You don't know till you try it.

Although I have found alltoAVI's output is not standalone compatible in all cases.
