when you convert file. what are the .stat and .fake files?? do you need it?

when i convert an AVI file to DVD format. i get the MPG file..and a file with a name like "princess enchanted.mpg.stat" and "princess enchanted.mpg.stat.fake" what are those? are they needed?

i use avidemux

No, you just need the mpg file that you then author to a dvd-video(vob,ifo,bup files).
