Which encoder do you like most when converting a file to a psp format (AVC)?

I like ffmpeg to an extent cause it gives you a sharper video but not so great quality. I've been using x264 also and it blurs the video, so the quality looks a bit better. Only thing I don't like about x264 is that you can't encoder a file that's already avi. I'm trying to use mencoder but it's a bit difficult.

So which one do you prefer?

I use ffmpeg and I got great quality, It wasn't for PSP, but for the Ipod which is similar (I used h264/AAC)

The only thing I don't like about it is the project focus and the lousy book keeping on formats / codecs, they admit that the list may be wrong though. I wish it was easier to find how to increase quality but as I was going from TV to PSP at something like 352 x 280 (not exact numbers) Its quality was awesome.
