    Hi,

I think this has been asked many times i did a quick search but couldnt find much.

Basically i want something like video edit magic but a bit better as VEM keeps on crashing on me and ive tried it on 3 different computers it works fine for a couple of clips then it crashes and you have to restart the pc etc..

as for the formats i want to be able to drag & drop just about any file type into it like avi, wmv, mpg, mpeg, vob etc.. just like with VEM

please note that i dont want to encode the video just want to be able to cut the video & save it as different types of video file formats.

I like VEM and have used it with no problems for years. I would recommend you try VirtualDubMod though.

Saving as different format is the very definition of encoding a video.

Ulead products support most formats for import/export, for simple edits Movie Factory is probably the best one for your needs however it may not support as many export formats as the Video Studio which is more for editing. You'll have to check the specs, each ahas a free 30 day trial.

Save video in different formats is encoding - there is no avoiding it.

  5. OK, not sure about how flexible it is with various formays in one video, but Magix Movie Edit 11 or 12 is a very nice editing program for cheap. Most recommend the 11 PLUS version from UK (can buy on eBay) which is what I own now. The MEP 11 or 12 (US) is dirt cheap now if you look around. I think it uses a popular encoder (can't remember which one) and the editing is very nice. It's fairly stable for what I do which is mostly DV (camcorder) and photos but also some mpegs. Also, if you learn to frameserve from VDubMod to MEP it becomes very accomodating of formats.
