    Howdy Folks:

A bit off topic - figured I'd ask

purchased a router to go with Cable modem to run 2 machines at once both Linksys
    both Mac's
since hooking up the main machine used to download/upload has communication errors and dodgey upload rates
    mainly using Azurues

    any ideas?

    CHEERS in advance

Enable Port Forwarding on the Linksys for Azureus.
The forwarded port will be the port assigned in Azureus
for it to use for its purpose.
    see here
    and
see here to forward your ports.
Also, enable UnP on the Linksys if it is not already enabled.

    Howdy TerryJ :

TerryJ to the rescue again : Cheers thanks for the reply :

Ok I think I managed the port forward with Azureus - yet Transmission Uploads are pitiful - remembering you do not know about Transmission - the Site is down for maintenance right now

Question - If I have 2 computers running - both Azureus - would I have set upload and download rates even with a router - I have Cable internet with 5Kbps - average is 700bps
Right now if I run just one machine thru the cable modem - I can upload up to 85-90Kbs - 2 machines running I average 65-70 between the 2 - same as if I were running Azureus and Transmission together on same machine

    does this make sense?

    Cheers in advance:

you can test your up and down speeds here -
    http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

cable modems share the connect between computers so with 2 you would divide the max in half when both are using it.

one thing you might try is unplugging your modem from the power for 5 minutes and then letting it reboot. comcast and others send out firmware updates without notifying users. the updates can allow higher speeds.

    Howdy Aedipuss:

Cheers ya for the speed test
Best down 5289 Kbps best up 545 Kbps

this would suggest I could run 2 machines - One Transmission and one Azureus simultaneously around 60-70kbps each - no?

just have to figure out the router sitch - just bought a newer router as the Linksys BEFSR41 v2 is older - cant see a UPnP option on its page - bought same model v4

    Cheers:

you shouldn't have any problem with those speeds.
