I have a file that has a type called "video clip" but when I play it and Windows Media PLayer opens, it just gives me the audio. I think this is a codec issue but how can I tell what codec I need?

Or to find the needed codec, open in Gspot 2.70. It will tell you what codec you need to play back on players like WMP. But, as mentioned, VLC will play most anything and no codecs to install.

Windows commonly calls any video file it doesn't recognize a 'video clip'. That by itself usually tells you a codec is missing.
