What kind of sports fan are you?

So are you a 24/7 wild sports nut?

Are you mildl obssesive on game days but less so on other days?

Are you a fair weather fan who only shows up when the home team is winning?

Are you only for the playoffs of a sport and could care less about the regular season?

I am somewhere between fair weahter fan and just above mildly obsessive. I love hockey but don't watch every game but love the playoffs. I love football and do watch all the regular season games. But I can miss games without suffering withdrawal.

Not obsessed but will always root for my White Sox and Bears. I do catch every NFL football game that's on. Baseball I occasionally watch. Basketball only during the playoffs (how exciting were the Warriors last season?). College football I watch when a good game is on (Bowl games I mostly catch only BCS). Soccer only during the World Cup (much more exciting with non-American crowds).

Not a fan of sports. Don't have a problem with them, but whenever I've tried to watch sports I felt like I was wasting my time and could only think of the things I would rather be doing.

The exception is when my son plays basketball. Then I can watch.

Hmm, I guess I'm somewhere in-between. I follow exactly ONE NFL team, and am mostly a fair-weather fan. If they're getting their arses handed to them (say, trailing +21pts), I'd just as soon turn off the game and find something else to do. No use getting angry at the TV for the rest of the game!

Major League Baseball and Rodeo.......no other sports for me.

Have never, ever watched the Super Bowl. Take away (please) ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classics and refund the money my cable provider pays for them. Fox Sports Midwest has some Cardinal Baseball, so it can stay.

Nothing I hate worse than watching a ball game where they come back late from an ad and you miss the first pitch or more. If the game is on radio, I mute the TV and listen to the radio. Radio is far and away my biggest source for following baseball.

My favorite sports town is Cheyenne........the biggest and the best rodeo in the world.

Usually I watch the teams I like in the sports I like. When world class teams/contestants are competing, almost every sport is entertaining and engrossing. It becomes more of an art form, than sports.

It depends what you mean by sports, anything that involves two teams and a ball is a waste of transmission bandwidth. If it involves fast cars or boats, then that's a different matter.

For some reason, I thought more people would be sports fans, too. But, I'm with the 40% who aren't. Remember a few years ago when that non-fan was working in a TV studio ... and promptly when a sport show's alloted time expired, he switched it over to the regularly scheduled program (grin)? Of course, he got fired ... but that's kind of my mentality. To me, there are just more important things to watch on TV than a bunch of sweaty jocks ... or after an event, watching chest-beating "game expert" announcers toss their egos around.

Yes, remeber it well. Best game i ever seen for hits was a MNF football game back in the 90's when they had "Gang Green" and Buddy Ryan when they were number 1 in every major defensive statistic for like a year. They played The then Houston Oilers... even Dierdorf was speechless. They were giving them yards, it was like go ahead sucker if you want to catch that ball. Entire second half was defensive highlight reel.

I'd imagine a lot of people would disagree but I'd argue that was best defense ever. They dominated the statistics for years. No damn offense to points on the board though.

Yes, IMO 85 Bears (big surprise, I know) are the greatest team of all time. When have you ever seen a team completely shut out their opponents in the playoffs?

The difference between the bears and other teams with the good defenses is they had at least a mediocre to good offense. Same is not true for the Eagles, 6 quaterbacks that season, the defense spent a huge amount of time on the field yet still managed to go 10-6. The offense didn't win games, they simply tried not lose it for them. Would the Chicago defense been as good under such conditions? Doubtful.

deviation above the mean. One can imagine a number of reasons

Total offense ranking for the Bears in 1985 was #7 , the 91 Eagles were 4 from the bottom at #25. I'm not sure If they coount defensive touchdowns in that stat but if they do the offense probably ranked last.

This happen years ago when I was a boy. I think it was CBS who switched over to Heidi with a couple of minutes ago and the game still in question. I can't remember the teams but I think this was in the late 60's or early 70's.

It was the Raiders and the Jets I think and that particular game if I remeber correctly had playoff implications. What ever the case it was a big comeback from behind victory that many fans missed hence the reason it gets mentioned. I'd imagine that happened in games previously but the outcome didn't change in the interim.

That's what I was thinking myself, the cross section of people here would be more inclined to spend 3 houres determing the slight difference between two encoding methods than spending it watching a game. To each his own I guess. I watch football quite a bit but my brother hates it and would probably prefer to stare at a blank wall instead of watch.
