I get video playback but no audio. What am I doing wrong? I went into the control panel and enabled the device and went through the steps to troubleshoot to no avail. Now what?

    It's a Lite-On SOHW-1673SU EZ-DUB 16x DVD±RW

I'm not very computer savvy so talk to me as though I were a four year old.

    Thank you.

What player (software) are you using?

Sounds like it may be a codec/filter issue - you might try installing AC3 Filter.

I installed the disc that came with it. The one that said I had to use to make it work. It also came with Nero and because I know nothing about this stuff I installed that too. Regardless of the software I have used to play DVD's nd CD's I've had no audio.

Thank you. I will try the download and let you know.

I would suspect AC3 and no codec for it like Ai Haibara mentions. You could also try VLC media player as it doesn't need installed codecs and plays about anything. It's one way to test for a codec problem.

I cannot thank you enough! The AC3 Filter did the trick! I did download VLC media player as a "just in case" I really needed my player to work as my TV did the day I spent my very last spare dime on Christmas gifts for my girls. It will be a long time before I can afford to replace it!

    Thank you again! Happy Holidays!
