    (1) the price is still too high for the average consumer
    (2) the targeted users are limited, only those who own a HTPC would want to play Bluray/HD-DVD from a PC to a large-screen HDTV

    Addonics??
    Who???
I see from the DVD Writers page that their products are HUGELY popular among this sites users.....

I'll wait until I can get one from Sorny, Panafonic, or Magnetbox.

On the plus side, at least somebody is putting a combo drive on the market.
I'd prefer an internal drive though, especially for HTPC.

  4. DVD Burner & Blu-ray/HD DVD Reader - $299 sata

Here is an internal drive for the PC or you can put it into an external case. The Cyberlink PowerDVD software that comes with is an OEM trial version. You need to get version 3319a of PowerDVD Ultra along with AnyDVD HD to have your complete play back package.

Nothing worth watching on Blue-Ray or HD. If you can't write higher capacity media, why pay even $200.

I thought I made my relative age clear in every post.

But if I were younger I would still not be interested in a medium which has under 300 titles in both formats combined.

Along the same lines, but a bare drive. Add your own enclosure of choice.

I see a time when a PS3 will be able to play HD-DVD movies with one of these things hanging off of a USB port. It's a no brainer......

I'll stop editing my post now

    Hahha,
If you look at the data sheet PDF for the GGC-H20L and GGW-H20L you will notice they have the same UPC code. My guess is some lasy person just used the same data for both except for the name/model # and size....Least that's the only differences I saw with the 2 data sheets.

My take on the GGC-H20L is that it can only read Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. It will write Dual layer recordable DVDs and lower density disks...
