Hi im a noob but had figured out pretty good how to use decrypter and shrink together. I had started backing up my collection and then i got to Shrek 3. I decrypted and used shrink like i had done to movies before it and was trying to make a backup DVDr. Everytime i tried to make an ISo disk an error screen came up and stopped the whole process. My thinking was that it was one of the movies that couldn't be backed up so i counted my losses and tried to burn another disk and suddenly the same error pops up on every burn attempt! I've tried various burner programs(Img Burn, Roxio, etc) with no success. Was there some sort of virus on Shrek that killed my Decrypter? Any hlp would greatly be appreciated.
ps-I have also tried dvdfab recently and i still cannot back anything up.

Not sure why DVDFAB HD Decrypter wouldn't work...Have you used the latest version?..

Yes i used the latest version. Still no success. Also if this helps the error is a I/O error that says No Seek Complete or Invalid Address for Write.

What error are you getting? Perhaps you need to upgrade your firmware..Try setting booktype to DVD-ROM if your drive allows booksetting, you'll have a more compatible disc...
But try better media (e.g. Verbatims or TY's ...
have you tried to rip w/o creating iso, just backup to HDD> shrink and burn...

You may wish to check in device manager for the chance that Windows has knocked your dvd reader from DMA to PIO only which can cause lots of grief..This setting is normally found on the your IDE secondary settings...
This is caused by a disc creating multiple re read conditions or failed sector reads. Most protected DVDs have "damaged" sectors to create this problem if your ripping software is out of date and has not bypassed it...

  13. You say Shrek killed your DVD Decrypter.... Are you using the actual DVD Decrypter (which is out of date, no longer supported, replaced by ImgBurn, etc), or are you talking about DVDFab HD Decrypter, which is still being supported and can actually be used to rip movies? You mentioned using ImgBurn, but there's no ripping stuff inside of it, just a great burning software. If you haven't got it, grab yourself the DVDFab HD Decrypter software and give it a whirl.

Try writing a small file or two to a disc with several programs, and several types of discs if that doesn't work. You are seeing that you might simply have a drive, controller, or cable failure, right? Sometimes a failure is really a failure.. Turn off the computer and reseat both ends of the DVD drive cable, it could be just a bad contact which reseating will often fix.

Quite possible something is messed with the ISO you made or corrupted drivers etc, but No Seek Complete could be either the head motion or the laser/optics not working or a ton of other things. Simplify what you're writing and try and see if the hardware, drivers, and discs are still working ok..

Im using the original dvd decrypter. I burned numerous new movie backups with no problems till shrek. I looked at my driver manager and it says my device type is on auto detection and the transfer mode is on DMA if available. This is foreign to me so are the settings right? Also, i have 2 of both(Primary and Seconday IDE channels. Am i supposed to have 2?I've had probs with my dvd drive(won't read cd-rs and won't burn dvdrs now)so i reinstalled the driver with no success. And what do u guys mean by reseatting? All this help is appreciated.

Have you considered the possibility that your DVD burner is just going bad and needs to be replaced? We'd need somebody in the USA or Canada who actually has Shrek 3 or access to it to see if it has special copy protection on it like ARCCOS. If not, then I'd say maybe your drive is just going bad (you've already told us that it won't read CD-Rs, which indicates a failure in that laser) and needs to be replaced.

Yes two IDE channels are the norm, the first normally has your HDD's on it, The second is normally your CD and or DVD drives, the setting sounds correct, the drives have not had any problems with failed sector reads or scratched discs..

As just mentioned I wonder if your burner is failing?
