I bought a japanese DVd recently but made a mistake, as it had no english subtitles. In an attempt to fix this i downloaded an .MKV file of the same movie w/eng subs and believe i successfully extracted the Sub file with THIS. This was done so i can backup the movie and add the sub file to it.

Now I need help with #1: Converting the .Mkv subtitle file to a format the typical DVD author program will accept, #2. editing the subtitle file a bit so that it matches up well with what is on-screen, and #3: Adding it to the movie during backup.

Any good programs out there which can do this, preferably easy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. MKV can contain different kind of subtitles. Doesn't mkvextractgui list what kind it is? Can you read the subs if you open it notepad?
    2. If text subtitles you can open and edit subtitles workshop, subtitle creator.
    3. Add back to new dvd using subtitle creator, see http://forum.videohelp.com/topic338721.html

And this is more a subtitle issue. Moving you.
