I'm looking for a player in the US that will play DIVX video from SD card or USB stick/drive. If it can be made region free thats a bonus also.

    Any recommendations?

  2. Philips 5960/5982 are the most popular Divx players with USB,but no SD card readers .I have the LG divx player with sd/cf card reader for viewing pic's but no video.

the best quality divx/dvd is made by Oppo ,but it cost more money.i don't think the card reader support video too

So with the Philips 5960/5982, can you just copy an .avi file onto a thumb drive, stick it in and start playing the video? I need this to be fairly "mom proof" and simple.

How good is the Philips as far as accepting DIVX files in a variety of different frame rates and sizes? I typically get .avi files from the UK which are 624x352 @25FPS.

    Thanks

  4. The Philips can be made region free.

I use Thumb drives or external Hard Drives.

It isn't the frame rates and resolution that matter. It is whether Packed Bitstream, Qpel & GMC.

    Much info here.
