    hi
    i have asus m2n-sli deluxe mainboard.
    there should be somewhere esata port on it but not outside (back) of computer case.
    how do you connect my external sata HDD (with esata port) to my PC.

    the esata ports on motherboards i've worked with were always on connectors that slip into an unoccupied bracket opening and connect to the motherboard with cables.

    It does have an external port just where it shows you in the previous post (poisondeathray`s). Have the same board and have an esata drive plugged in.

    What may be confusing the OP is that the Esata port does not look the same as a internal Sata port.

    Esata is the fastest inexpensive way to a fast full speed external drive running much faster than a USB2 or Firewire external. A SCSI external could be faster, however much more costly.
