I have to use a web authoring site/software that will only allow swf uploads, not flv.

    1) Is there someway to get ffmpegx to do this?

    2) if ffmpegx can't, I'm open to other (open source/ free) suggestions. I can't upload a player to the site.

    thanks

The open/free solution is to use an .swf 'player' file that wants a linked (via javascript or embed tag) .flv file for video content.
To embed the flv video inside an .swf file, you'll be needing a Flash authoring tool. For such clips, the entire file must be transferred before playback can begin (no more semi-streaming). I'm not aware of any Flash authoring tool besides Adobe Flash ($$$) for this task.

sigh. This ridiculous web site software won't allow script language to added to pages (I understnd blocking it from blogs but not from trusted users altering their pages.). So the jw_player won't work for me.

    thanks anyway.
