Is there a way to change the DEFAULT video renderer for DirectX? I am able to change it within certain programs, such as Media Player Classic, but programs such as Windows Media Player, still use the set one.
Reason being, is my default video renderer cannot handle subtitles, and programs like Windows Media Player, cannot play subtitles, so i want to change the default video renderer to VMR7...which i thought was the default one, but obvioussly not in my case.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

You can do this via the registry to change the merit of the various video renderers that are on your system.
You may need to use GraphEdit to find the CLSIDs and merits of each renderer that you have before the next step:
Use a third-party tool (can't recall the name, sorry) that lets you manage all DirectShow filters. You can change the merits that way. You'll find one has a merit of 0x00800001. Lower this to, say, 0x00200001 and raise the one you want as default to 0x00800000 or higher.
