  1. Dear Forum
I have some DVD's and VHS videocassettes which on the labels state that there are closed-captions subtitles on them . However I am presently unable to view these subtitles on my telly using the dvd player and video player I have.
I understand that I would need a closed caption decoder to attain this but do not know what one of these is also where would I be able to buy one.
Further I would like to know please is there any software that can produce the capability to turn on closed captions for viewing on the PC or laptop.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated please
    Yours

  2. SFAIK in Europe they use Teletext and this is completely different from Closed Captions. Decoder box required, this is not the case with CC.

Many players do not support CC, Teletext I have no idea.

  5. There really isn't anything called closed-captions subtitles.

Either you have subtitles or you have captions. Your tv must be CC ready for you to see CC's.
