Ok, first of all I'm a total noob and I've seen a few threads similar to this. I searched and read thru them, but I still have some questions. I have burned two 23 minute .AVIs to DVD with nero 7. I played them on my cheapo DVD player, and the 1st one looks great with one exception a brief spot half way thru where the video get choppy and then plays great afterwards. The 2nd AVI plays great until halfway thru, then the video gets choppy again and remains that way. The sound also becomes way out of sync, probably 3+ mins ahead of the video.

These AVIs are great quality. I downloaded GSpot and didn't see any problems, perhaps I wasn't looking for the right thing. So is it Nero? Because it worked so well for the 1st one.

Can be Nero. Can be errors in the AVIs. Try something else, like FAVC, DIKO or comvertx2dvd.

Well just got my DVD burner and dvds yesterday, and I just noticed by burner is 20x and the DVDs i have are 16x. I wonder if could be problem with speed it was recording at. or would that have been a worse error.

update: Used same AVIs and DVDs but with DVD Flick. It plays great and looks perfect. I guess the problem was with neros conversion. No quick and easy menus, but I can live without that.

Also the picture seems to fit better than with nero.

You could also try FAVC, which can do basic text menus
