  1. I've tried several times now to burn a DL disc that I created on my own, and works fine on my computer in dvd mode but won't burn to a disc. My drive is a Benq DW1625, which does support burning DL discs (although for some reason when i insert a blank, my drive thinks its a blank cd for whatever reason, but whatever)

Anyways, once it gets to a step called "generating dvd high compatibility borders" it stops and aborts itself and wont continue. I've tried nero and a few other smaller burning programs and i get the same problem everytime and I have no idea why it wont let me burn to disc.

Here's what dvd shrink gave me when the error occured, perhaps maybe you guys can understand it better than me.

  2. Try IMGBurn and use this guide:

When I posted earlier I didn't even notice that you were using RITEK...S04 and the (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR). I doubt that burner has a strategy for that media. Verbatim is the only way to go when it comes to DVD+R DL.

For RitekS04 you need a newer DL burner, an actual top notch drive.

"Could not perform end of Disc-at-once"

Is usually associated with media for which the drive has no write strategy or an improper write strategy.

Suggest you seek a firmware update. If MCSE supports your drive it might be worth seeing if this media is in the new firmware before you waste any more disks. Also check to see if the Verbatim DVD+R/DL's strategy is present.

Write strategy is great and all, but it still comes down to the fact that Ritek makes a lot of crappy media, DL being one of them.

Don't disagree that Ritek DL is crap. But to stand a chance at burning it you need a correct write strategy.

Instead of using "higher quality" media as a bandaid for bad hardware, I believe one should use the best hardware we can, to get the full benefit of the media. And use our existing hardware in a manner in whcih it can perform at its best.

The OP may perform firmware updates and still fail to burn Ritek DL but he will have given it a reasonable try. Otherwise it comes down to Lordsmurf says "Ritek is crap".
