How to put DVDs on Zen Vision: W

- I just purchased a ZVW from my sister and have passed the 60 day limit for help from Creative - I'm also a novice and haven't been able to understand nor download DVDs from my shelf to my ZVW. What is the difference between ripping and converting?

Can't I download a free software - I have been doing downloading different software for weeks (dail-up) and still can't view on my ZVW. I need in layman terms from start to finish - from shelf to zen. I also don't understand the different terminology - is there a glossary so that I can understand - "the dumb question is no question!" Thanks
