Rip it to your HDD with DVDFab Decrypter, then process it.

I liked it. It's about a rat turned gourmet chef.

A beautiful film to look at - some the best CG yet done - and a great story. Brad Bird has brought a more mature story telling approach to Pixar which has elevated them fun films makers to great film makers.

I like the original Lilo and Stitch as one of the best all around told stories from Disney in the last few years. Especially how the Lilo and Stitch characters come across. But I like most all of the studios films.

A extremely long list of all Disney films: http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/mo...saz/index.html

But to get back on topic, DVDFab HD Decrypter should work.

Only a small part of R4 if it was. It has only been in the cinemas here for about four weeks. Won't see the DVD for a couple of months yet (we are PAL R4)

I successfully ripped Ratatouille to my hdd using latest version of dvdfabhddecrypter. Dvd shrink
stops and disappears right after the initial analysis. doesn't let you go to the next step of having the option to re-author or to do other things. This happens when ripping full disc only. It doesn't do it when ripping movie only. Any ideas?

Have you tried run fixvts after you used dvdfabdecrypter? and then use dvd shrink.

Ok, I tried fixvts. Dvd Shrink still shuts down after the start up analysis. I'll just wait and see if anyone has this problem. At least I got the movie only backed up.

Capvid, I could not decrypt Ratatouille with any of my older software, including DVD Fab HD, but I clicked on the link in your previous posting and downloaded the beta copy of DVD Fab HD, and it did decrypt. It did run into some error and asked to restart the process with some other method that would take longer, but it did get through the decryption of the full disk. With that complete, I can use DVD Shrink to reauthor the disk if I want.

New Edit: Ohh. I'm new to this forum, so I didn't realize that this forum automatically inserts hyperlinks into the postings, so maybe you didn't even realize that the answer to your problem was already contained in your very own posting.

POWERTOOLMAN, Ripping the full disk works without any problems. It's when you try to run Dvd Shrink, is where the problem lies. If you rip movie only, then dvd shrink works fine. When you rip full disk, then dvd shrink shuts down. Did you try shrinking it after a full rip? Thanks

  19. doesn't RipIt4Me use DVD Decrypter for ripping? wouldn't think this "old" ripper had the updates to rip any new(er) disc. Oh, well. thanks for the info.

Every time a new movie is released, we have a similar thread. "I can't copy it; Waahaah, Waahaah, Waahaah." IF you used the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter it will rip fine and DVD Shrink will shrink it fine. IF you don't use the latest version it WON'T rip fine. What is so hard to understand about that? DVDFab Decrypter is frequently updated to include the necessary info needed to rip the latest movies. But when you combine ignorance with stubbornness, you get all of this recreational misery. Maybe it's just a way social mutants like to get attention.

SCDVD, Did you try it yourself or are you just making stupid comments. The latest beta version from this morning was used. It rips it, but dvd shrink just shuts down. I'm waiting to hear from people who used dvdfabhd decrypter and dvd shrink in FULL MODE and got it to work. If you didn't try it then don't comment on it.

Yes I did and it worked fine. I don't make stupid comments. I used the latest approved version 3.2.1.0. Look up the definition for beta as used for software and translate it as "guinea pig in a misery zone". Beta software is not ready for release because it is usually buggy. Beta release is a way software makers get feedback so they can FIX their product. Oh, and thank you for doing such a good job of illustrating my point for all to read. Now, go and make yourself useful and report to the the author of DVDFab Decrypter, Fengtau Software, that their beta release doesn't work with Ratatouille.

    well here's my $0.02

downloaded the 4.0.0.8 beta this morning, since the current install of DVDFab wouldn't work. After it ripped Ratatouille flawlessly, DVDShrink crashed upon reading the DVDfab output until i disabled the preview option, then i converted to ISO and burned w/ ImgBurn.

watchin the result DVD now, so far so good. Love the new BETA, hate the monkey icon!!!

Shutting off the preview button did the trick, go figure.

If it works with no playing problems then that's the main thing. The only caution is that the preview problem that Shrink has points to some sort of structural problem with the DVD that is somehow creating a problem with Shrink. If that is the case, there is a possibly that it might cause problems elsewhere. If your player is happy with it, that's the most important thing. It may be a beta problem that isn't related to Ratatouille per se. You might try another DVD title and see if Shrink has a preview problem with it also.

RipIt4Me does work for a full disk backup of this movie, with no problems for DvdShrink.

Ripping using that method does cycle the tray 20 times, however, so if you don't have the "Cycle Tray After Bad Sectors" option checked in DvdDecrypter, it may hang before completion.

Just to make sure you know...if you have to modify the default settings (like shutting off the preview) in DvdShrink, your rip has a problem. Burning such a rip may, or may not, work in your dvd player, but either way...you have a flawed rip. RipIt4Me will give you a clean rip, and it's free.

It turns out (at least in my case) that while a full-disk rip using RipIt4Me will open fine in DvdShrink, the resulting rip never makes it to the main menu.

To make the rip functional, you would need to open the rip in PgcEdit. Go to line 6 of the pre-commands on titles 14, 15, 16, and 17 , where it says "LinkPTT Chapter 2". At least in a full disk RipIt4Me rip, there is no chapter 2. However, if you change the lines of those titles to say "LinkPTT Chapter 1", the rip works fine. You can then process it any way you like.

Sorry for the incomplete information. I haven't seen this circumstance before so I didn't know it would be a problem.

Given that some people aren't going to feel comfortable doing the added step in PgcEdit, if anyone knows of a one step method to get a full disk backup, I'm sure there are some folks that would appreciate the tip.

I used RipIt4Me Ver 1.7.1.0 and did the 1-Click Mode. I also had it checked for "bypass to the menu". It ran through okay except it showed an error saying it couldn't find a menu at all. Curious when I saw that. So I opened up DvdShrink and it did the same thing yours was capvid. It would start to pre-analyze w/ the preview showing and would go away after 1 second of being open. It would completely close out DvdShrink.

Thank you for the tip on shutting off the preview Puff, needless to say it worked! I had to open another DVD just to get to the option to turn off the preview and then retried Ratatouille.

Edit: Okay now I feel a little on the edge about the RipIt4Me rip because it's having some more issues with DVD Shrink, at least after I tried the PGCedit configuration that was pointed out before. I am going to try the DVD2ONE rip.
