  1. Hi folks.

I´m having troubles trying to transfer miniDV LP mode footage to PC via FireWire. Video is Ok, but audio starts and stops continously.

    Can you help me?

One post is enough. I removed your other same post.

Has it worked before without problems?
How do you transfer? Try WinDV.

  3. Have you tried a different player?

It would be very, very unlikely for the audio to be effected and not the video because of the way DV is recorded.

To me, the following would be possible causes:

    1. The camcorder has a fault and recorded the audio badly
    2. The heads are dirty and both the audio and video are affected - video problems can be 'hidden' but audio can't. Look at the video to see if you can see any obvious large blocks.
    3. Your media player on your PC is at fault - try a different player.

Baldrick, sorry for the repetition but I guessed the other post was offtopic where I posted it.

By the way, same problem repeats with two different cams and in different tapes, no camcorder or tape problem.
Moreover, tape plays fine IN the camcorder, problem is only when one transfer it.
I am transfering with Scenalyzer, I´ll try a different software as you suggest.

  5. It might be your PC/media player.

One way to see if the captured video is okay is to send it back to the camcorder via FireWire. You can do that with WinDV. The audio and video will play on the camcorder.

  6. Unfortunately even using WinDV, audio is still cutted. I tried it using several players, but same problem. If the master were damaged, could it be played ok in the camcorder? I dont understand.

  7. Have you tried sending the captured video back to the camcorder and watching/listening to it with the camcorder?

  8. What Johhny is suggesting is your file is fine and there is a bottleneck for playback on your comp. Can you play other DV-AVI without any problems?

I've had similar intermittent problems myself when using my editor that just seem to pop up occasionally for no reason whatsoever. Out of sync, skipping, popping sounds etc. Something wrong with a driver or conflict somewhere but since it doesn't affect the actual files and is only a playback problem I just ignore it.
